What to expect on your first visit.
We would love to meet you this Sunday. Below is frequently requested information from guests. If you do not see your question answered here, please feel free to contact us.
8:15 am Service - Traditional Style
Traditional service with hymns and message. All children are with their parents.
9:30 am Core Groups and Children's Sunday School
This is a time to go deeper into the Word. All age groups study the same lesson, presented in age-appropriate ways. Play-centered learning is offered for infants and preschoolers. Older children learn in classroom-style environments. Adults gather with others of similar age and life stage. The current study, started in October 2015, is a 3-year journey through the Bible in order, from Genesis through Revelation.
To find the right group for you and your children, please visit the Welcome Center in the Foyer.
10:45 am Service - Contemporary Style
Contemporary worship service with praise band and message. Infants through preschoolers stay in the preschool wing, where they learn, sing, and play. Kindergartners through 4th graders join their parents during the music portion of the service (approximately 30 minutes). After the last song, an announcement is placed on the large screens in front of the Sanctuary indicating children are dismissed for Kids Worship in the Chapel. Teachers meet the children just outside the Sanctuary doors. Parents pick up their children in the Chapel following the service. Kids Worship is optional.
Where to find us
We are located on the southeast corner of 67th Street and Nall Avenue in Prairie Village, Kansas.
What to wear
We do not have a dress code specifically, though we do appreciate modest clothing. If you are comfortable in jeans, you are welcome to wear jeans. If you’d rather dress up a bit, that’s great too.
Where to park
On your first visit, we recommend parking near the north entrance (facing 67th Street) if you have children, or the west doors (facing Nall Avenue) if you do not.
Where to go once you've parked
With kids, go in the north doors (facing 67th Street) and look for the Children's Welcome Desk. A volunteer will help you register your children and find the correct classroom. They can also help you find the Sanctuary or a Core Group. Without kids, go in the west doors (facing Nall Avenue) and proceed to the Welcome Center, where a volunteer will help you find a Core Group or answer any questions you may have.
What to know about the Invitation
This may be a new concept to you if you did not grow up Baptist. The Invitation happens just after the sermon of each service. Pastor Joe invites up front anyone who would like to join the church, be baptized, renew their faith in Christ or make any decision regarding their faith walk. The congregation sings for this brief time of open invitation. You are welcome to speak to Pastor Joe in private first, if you wish.
A note about Bibles
We encourage everyone to bring their Bible, including children elementary age and older. If you do not have one or forget, we have you covered. Bibles are in the seat backs in the Sanctuary.
One Worship Sundays
From time to time, we have only one service due to holidays or other special events. Check our calendar on our Events page.
Breakfasts and luncheons
Periodically, we host Sunday breakfast or luncheons for the congregation and guests. Check our calendar on our Events page for more.
