As a church, we desire to make an impact for the Kingdom on the people of our city. 

Below are the many ways you and your family can be a part of Missions Week 2018.

Missions Week is Sunday, July 22, through Friday, July 27. Pick a day, time and activity that best fits your schedule and skills.


Sunday, July 22

Worship and Prayer Service, followed by ice cream social

The week kicks off with a special evening of worship and prayer in the Sanctuary. The service will be followed by an ice cream social in the CLC/Gym. 

Ages: All ages

Hours: Sunday, July 22, 6:00 pm

Location: The church

Registration: Sign up to bring ice cream or a baked good.

Monday, July 23

City Union Mission Impact Volunteer

This three-hour shift will see volunteers lend a helping hand at either the warehouse or Thrift Store in downtown Kansas City. 

Ages: 16 (younger children may serve alongside a parent)

Hours: 9:30 am to 12:30 pm, Monday, July 23

Location: City Union Mission facilities, downtown Kansas City. Volunteers will meet at the facilities.

Volunteer max: 12

Registration: Due by July 22.

City Union Mission Family Center Dinner

Volunteers will serve dinner to families staying in the Family Center. You will have a chance to also dine and connect with the families. Clean-up work involved. No meal prep involved.

Ages: all; children must be supervised by a parent

Hours: 4:00 - 6:00 pm, Monday, July 23

Location: City Union Mission Family Center, 1301 Wabash Ave., Kansas City, Mo (downtown). Volunteers will meet at the center.

Volunteer max: 12

Registration: Due by July 22.


Tuesday, July 24

Lunch 'N Pack: Assemble School Supply Baskets for Teachers

Bring a sack lunch to enjoy while you help fill care baskets with school supplies for teachers at Santa Fe Trail Elementary, the closest school to the church (71st and Lamar).  

Ages: all; children must be supervised by a parent

Hours: 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, Tuesday, July 24

Location: The church

Volunteer max: None

Registration: Not needed

 

Men's Night at The Firehouse (Jason and Courtney Neland/Carry the Cross Ministries) 

All men and boys are welcome to help in various handyman projects around the Nelands' Firehouse property in KCK.

Ages: all; children must be supervisied by a parent

Hours: 6:00 to 8:00 pm

Location: 5519 Freeman Ave., Apt. B, Kansas City, KS

Volunteer max: 10

Wednesday, July 25

Mission Adelante Thrift Store

Serve a three-hour shift at Mission Adelante in KCK. This mission helps immigrant and low-income families.

Ages: all; children must be supervised by a parent

Hours: 9:00 am to Noon, Wednesday, July 25

Location: Mission Adelante Thirft Store, 3720 State Ave., Kansas City, KS; volunteers will meet at the store.

Volunteer max: None

Registration: Due by July 22

 

Mission Southside 

Volunteers may participate in the Baking Brigade or sort donations, pack backpacks with snacks or help where needed. Specific tasks will be given at the Mission. Lifting may be involved. 

Ages: All; children must serve alongside parents

Hours: 6:30 - 8:00 pm, Wednesday, July 25

Location: Mission Southside, 18335 W 168th Terr., Olathe, KS; volunteers will meet at the mission.

Thursday, July 26

 

Mission Adelante Thrift Store

Serve a three-hour shift at Mission Adelante in KCK. This mission helps immigrant and low-income families.

Ages: all; children must be supervised by a parent

Hours: 1:30 to 4:30 pm, Thursday, July 26

Location: Mission Adelante Thirft Store in KCK; volunteers will meet at the store.

Volunteer max: None

Registration: Due by July 22

Friday, July 27
